After many many pitiful scenes of me darting into the garage for safety, it finally buzzed over to the trash barrel. My opportunity was fleeting. I hastily scrambled the drawers into the garage. Well, the wasp king got confused after hovering around where they had been and finally buzzed off. Until today. But that is ok because the drawers are tucked into their slots. Safe from intruders. I am surmising they are attracted to the paint scent or colors. Just great.
I love this how this dresser turned out kind of ladylike meets tomboy. It has dainty lacey detail partnered with the aged appeal of rustic distressing. Actually, it is quite a grand lady with five spacious drawers for storage. Two of which are huge. I decided to do this one with a flair for the cottage sophisticate. Painted in a crystal blue chalk paint, I gave it a time-worn distressing all over. I made the appliqués on the drawer faces and decoupaged the drawer frame. The curve is now accentuated perfectly. Check out the fancy-mancy legs on this one. They are gorgeously shaped. I also stripped the original hardware to a lovely pinky gold while leaving some patina on them. They are precious bow and wreath pulls that had to stay with the piece. To finish it off, I clear waxed the entire dresser. It is terribly darling in my meager for-what-it's-worth opinion.
Please pardon the mack-shift backdrop. I did not have help moving the dresser so I had to improvise. This will probably be the regular scenery when I cannot move the piece myself.
