Here is what I have been up to in the midst of working on the buffet I gave you a teaser of a few days ago:
I know fall is in full swing, but who doesn't love a pretty bunch of cheery flowers any time of the year? The white chalk paint background lets these flowers stay blossomed brightly all year 'round. It is protected with polyurethane for years of fun use. The entire table is lightly distressed including the top which adds even more great charm with a touch of rustic warmth. I also finished it with a very subtle glazing technique just to cut the starkness of the white.
This was a really big transformation for a little table, but I forgot, of course, to take a before shot. Anyway, it was dull brown wood with a cracked glass top. The bottom piece was gone. I replaced the top and bottom, scrubbed, sanded then painted three coats of chalk paint for super coverage. I could hardly wait to get to the fun part...the napkin decoupage top. I just so happened to have grabbed the soft cantaloupe color paint a while back which was the perfect accent to play off the flowers. Love when things fall together which is not always. I thought about waiting on this until spring, but then thought, why? So here it is, in its adorable blooms ready to grace your home.
