The color selections from Country Chic Paint are gorgeous. The two I ordered lept out at me partly because their tones are my natural favorites and partly because it is nearing summer, and I wanted airy happy breezy colors. These released a sunny warm breezy day right into my kitchen the day they arrived and I spun open the lids. Bliss is the aqua tone and is self spoken. It is definitely a blissful blue. Creme Brûlée is the creamy buttery soft yellow that is as a gentle sunbeam in an early summer sky. The metallic I chose is Belt Buckle. This is a bronzy brown that is rich and glistening with a delicate shimmer that reflects light wonderfully emitting a pearly sheen. They also included a lovely brush that is like swiping with a smooth soft feather.
Enough word tease. Here are the colors in their precious little pots. Country Chic has some of the best presentation in their packaging I have ever seen which includes a thank you card. It's the small and personal touches like this that make a company a standout in a vast and flooded arena of products. Their appreciation of the customer and pride in their quality products are evident.
The chest needed a touch of sanding on the top to smooth out and remove the old flaking finish, and on the front face for the same purposes since that was going to be redone with the metallic belt buckle.
After the first coat, the aged characteristics began to show and I love that about old pieces. This one has a texture to it and a rustic appearance that the paint grabbed on to, and I find it enchanting. I think the texture opposes the curvy style in a way that brings the piece a cohesive distinction. Luscious stuff in my quirky antique patina loving mind.
The backsplash held a clock which was in shambles and the electrical cord, oh the cord. Not something you want to plug in while attached to wood furniture in a house. Not at all. I cut out a piece of vintage wallpaper and slipped in the casing. This could easily be replaced by material or a photo or other paper that matches any decor.
For the Bling Bling! portion, I used the metallic paint on the full face outlining the floral oval. I added some hand stenciled flowers in the metallic as well on the curved faces, the tops of the adorable compartments, and continued it on the backsplash. The original handle was blinged out with a coating of the belt buckle, too. Brought it right to life again. The yellow of the creme brûlée draws the bronze shimmer from the belt buckle metallic and together they are warm and rich and spectacular with plenty of bling to boast.
I staged it alone and with a mohair blanket tossed on top for fun. It could display quilt or favorite blanket while storing tons inside. This is a great size, perfect for toys, treasures, seasonal items, etc.
The blechy and brown before the Bling Bling! makeover:
A huge thank you to the hosts of the FFFC, Thea from Sweet Tea Refinishing, and Carrie from Thirty Eight Street, and certainly our generous sponsor, Country Chic Paint.
